Rise Above Plastics Month and Beach Cleanup

RSVP here »

Saturday, October 5th – 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Manresa Beach

“Rise Above Plastics Month” is a month-long challenge to the public calling on them to reduce their plastic footprint. Our goal is to raise awareness about the harms that single-use plastics cause in our marine and coastal environments.

Join us as we kick off “Rise Above Plastics Month” with our monthly beach clean up at Manresa beach (please let them know you are there for the cleanup and you will not have to pay for parking), this Saturday, October 5th, at 11am! At our cleanup we will have templates printed out that will allow participants to create unique mosaic sculptures with the collected plastic at the beach cleanup, and after the sculpture is created, we will be taking photos of the art, and are asking people to submit their photos to onefoot@surfrider.org for the chance to win prizes from Teva, Firewire Surfboards and the Surfrider Foundation. Our goal is to remove 1,000 square feet of plastic from the environment “One Foot at a Time. We also encourage you to conduct your own cleanup throughout the month of October, and download a printable 1×1 ft. template from www.RAPmonth.org/ofaat and cover the template in the plastic waste. Make sure you send us your picture so that we can share it on our website!
