“Rise Above Plastics Month” is a month-long challenge to the public calling on them to reduce their plastic footprint. Our goal is to raise awareness about the harms that single-use plastics cause in our marine and coastal environments.
Join us this Saturday for our Annual Coastal Cleanup Day, from 9am-12pm, at Moran Lake Beach as we look to remove more trash from our beaches than collected in 2012. On September 15, 2012, about 3,500 volunteers in Santa Cruz & Monterey Counties worked together to prevent 16,827 lbs. of pollution and debris from trashing our Sanctuary, littering our communities and harming marine life.
