Protecting Oceans, Waves and Beaches since 1984
Time: 7:00 pm
YOU are invited to help us thank our wonderful volunteers who have kept our chapter strong and visible in the community for the past year, and celebrate what we love, our oceans, waves, and beaches! We will be honoring our long time contributors like Couch Distributing who supports us and our Save the Surf program, and others who have made a huge impact for the Chapter. We are super stoked that Pono Hawaiian Grill/ The Reef Bar are hosting (directions) for what should be an awesome night! (RSVP optional) All active members will receive (join here), a free drink and appetizers will be provided. If your membership is not active, you can join/renew at the event! Also come vote for our chapter elections; all positions are two year terms. We will have awards to present, food and drinks available, music from Alan Souza, and a huge raffle with awesome surf gear, board displays from Ventana Surfboards, and more! Come down and meet your fellow Surfrider members and Chapter program leaders as we look back at an amazing year in 2014! You can learn how you can get involved and help us protect what we love, our oceans, waves, and beaches! * December Beach Clean UpDecember Beach Clean Up
Time: 11:00 am
Join us for our final beach clean up of 2014 at Mitchell’s Cove! Anyone of any age is welcome and invited to help. These clean-ups also provide a source of community volunteer work as required of students in many local schools, clubs and colleges. So bring your sturdy shoes, water, sunblock (or rain gear). Please bring, if possible, your own reusable cleanup items to cut down on waste we produce in cleaning up as well, such as buckets/reusable bags, work or garden gloves. Drop-in and groups are welcome! We also encourage participants to bring their own gloves, grabbers, or buckets. Come on down and help save the beach!
* 'El Mar, Mi Alma" Film'El Mar, Mi Alma" Film
Time: 7:00 pm
We are super stoked to be invited to table this film! A visual love song to the surf blessed land of Chile and the ocean that defines it With a long and diverse coastline Chile is a country not only shaped by its geography; the sea occupies a mystical and poetic, conscious and unconscious place within the cultural fabric of the nation. ‘El Mar, Mi Alma’ is a visual tone poem, a blend of images and music embracing cinematic surfing sequences, coastal landscapes, insightful commentary, poetry, and the movements of the cast on a unique surfing journey. With environmental themes and political undercurrent, the film paints a picture of Chile's beauty and association with the sea, centered around the wondrous act of surfing.
