* May Beach Clean UpMay Beach Clean Up
Time: 11:00 am
Join us for our Monthly beach clean up at Twin Lakes beach. Anyone of any age is welcome and invited to help. These clean-ups also provide a source of community volunteer work as required of students in many local schools, clubs and colleges. So bring your sturdy shoes, water, and sunblock. Please bring, if possible, your own reusable cleanup items to cut down on waste we produce in cleaning up as well, such as buckets/reusable bags, work or garden gloves. Drop-in and groups are welcome! We also encourage participants to bring their own gloves, grabbers, or buckets. Come on down and help save the beach!
* General Chapter MeetingGeneral Chapter Meeting
Time: 7:00 pm
We are super stoked to welcome Scott McGilvray from Water Aware as our speaker for our general chapter meeting in May! Scott will be providing us with updates about our water supply in Santa Cruz. Food and drinks (beer for 21+) will be provided. The meeting is family friendly, free, and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
* Memorial Day Holiday CleanupMemorial Day Holiday Cleanup
Time: 9:00 am
Join us as we partner with Save Our Shores to help ERASE THE WASTE ON MEMORIAL WEEKEND. Surfrider will be hosting at Twin Lakes for the Memorial Day Holiday Relief Cleanup organized by Save Our Shores. Memorial Day honors our fallen soldiers and marks the end of the school year. It is also a three-day weekend, which means lots of people, lots of awesome party’s, and lots of garbage left behind. Save Our Shores needs your help to prevent the pollution from entering our Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. This special cleanup is a part of our 2016 Holiday Relief Program to mitigate beach trash and provide pollution prevention outreach on Memorial, Independence, and Labor Day.
