The Santa Cruz Chapter will be having elections for four positions in December. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved and have more influence on our chapter's activities. Chapter officers and program leaders are members, just like you, who have decided to take their level of participation up a notch to help the ocean we all love.
Positions: Chair, Treasurer, Secretary/Office Manager, and Lab Coordinator. Each position is for a 2-year term.
Who: Any member can run for the office if they are nominated.
Nomination: A candidate can be nominated (by themselves or by another member) at the November 16 chapter meeting, or via email. Nominations must be seconded by another member. Send email nominations to sdamron@surfrider.org.
Election Day: Current dues-paying members can vote at the General Meeting on December 14 at the El Palomar Restaurant in Santa Cruz.

CHAPTER OFFICER DUTIES
Chair: The Chair is the Chief Executive Officer of the chapter and is responsible for fulfilling the mission of the chapter. The Chair presides at meetings of the chapter and the Executive Committee, and has general supervision of the operation of the chapter.
Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for the chapter's financial records. The Treasurer receives and disburses, with the approval of the chapter, all chapter funds and keeps an accurate account of all transactions.
Secretary/Office Manager: Responsible for the chapter's records (minutes) and correspondence. Periodically checks phone messages (in office or from home) and forwards messages to appropriate individuals.
Lab Coordinator: Manages the chapter's water quality testing lab, reports results, coordinates volunteer water samplers.
