Golden Love of Love’s Gardens will teach this DIY installation and tour of infiltration galleries, basins, and bio-swales to harvest rainwater. Cost is $45.

Welcome, introductions, and layout of the day
Short Powerpoint on Water Neutral Gardens, Infiltration Galleries, Basins and Bio Swales
Primer on Image J design software:  participants will be designing their own rainwater harvesting system
Walking tour of rainwater catchment systems in neighborhood
Lunch (Walk to demo site)
Talk and pictures by Angie Stuart from Resource Conservation District:  examples of systems in Santa Cruz County
Building an actual infiltration gallery at a Westside residence.....some initial work will already be done
Closing:  connecting with each other...supporting each other's goals

Rain Harvesting and Water Storage Demonstration, Saturday, Nov. 5, 8 a.m. to noon, Pro-Build Garden Center, 235 River St., Santa Cruz, 423-0223. Rainwater harvesting displays in parking lot, demonstrated by Bruce Hallinan from Bushman Systems of Temecula. Bring your questions, learn how to irrigate your garden while preventing runoff that can pollute waterways and cause erosion. Event is free.
