In lieu of our monthly meeting in November we are encouraging everyone to come out an join us at the Save the Waves Film Festival at the Rio Theater Nov. 9th at 6pm
Save the Waves 4th-annual film and music event brings together our singular community of surfers, environmentalists and ocean lovers for intimate screenings of environmental, surf and ocean films in a unique and inspiring way. The festival includes the premiere of Chris Malloy’s latest surfing documentary, Groundswell, in which a group of activists set sail for an exploratory surf trip along British Columbia’s unspoiled but threatened west coast. Also featuring the world premiere of "Ode" -- an alternative look at the northern California wilderness surfing experience -- by underground Santa Cruz lensman Patrick Trefz. Additional films are announced on our film festival blog. On November 9, Save The Waves Film Festival visits the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, and the tour ends at the historic Victoria Theatre in San Francisco on November 16. Event proceeds benefit the environmental programs of Save The Waves Coalition and World Surfing Reserves.
