Help Us Make a Difference: Actively Seeking Volunteers!
We’re seeking passionate volunteers to help clean our coastlines, improve water quality, and protect beach access.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Beach Cleanup Leader: Organize, set up, and lead beach cleanups. This is a perfect way to engage with your local community and make a meaningful difference in keeping our coastlines clean.
- Blue Water Task Force Coordinator: Help protect public health and the environment by overseeing water sample collection and testing efforts at our lab.
- Blue Water Task Force Water Sampler: Collect water samples from designated beaches and coastal areas, and deliver them to our testing lab near the Santa Cruz Harbor.
- Blue Water Task Force Lab Analyst: Analyze water samples and provide vital data for environmental protection in our Santa Cruz Harbor lab.
- Impact Ambassador: Help raise awareness about Surfrider’s core initiatives and encourage the community to get involved.
- Beach Guardian: Monitor and protect coastal access and water quality by keeping an eye on activities and conditions in your local neighborhoods and coastal areas.
- Policy Committee Member: Support Surfrider’s mission by staying informed on public policies at all levels of government and advocating for sustainable coastal protection.
- Treasurer: Oversees the chapter's financial operations including managing the bank account and helping with record-keeping, reconciliations, reports, and basic payment processing.

Join Us for a Beach Cleanup and Meet-and-Greet
Connect with fellow volunteers, enjoy a morning on the beach, and help make a difference. Plus, the Santa Cruz Chapter’s Executive Committee will be there, so it's the perfect opportunity to meet the team, share your ideas, and chat with us about what matters most to you.

Executive Committee Planning
This month, our Santa Cruz Chapter Executive Committee met in person to plan for the year ahead. We’re excited to ramp up community engagement and drive the success of our key initiatives:
- Plastic Reduction: Reducing the impact of plastics in the marine environments that surround us.
- Ocean Protection: Defending our ocean from challenges threatening the vitality of the ecosystem.
- Beach Access: Working with decision-makers to ensure full and fair beach access for all to enjoy.
- Coasts & Climate: Taking on issues that threaten our beaches and natural shorelines.
- Clean Water: Protecting the health and sustainability of our planet's most precious resource.
