Capitola Beach Cleanup Recap – Thank You, Volunteers!

Capitola Beach Cleanup Recap – Thank You, Volunteers!

This past weekend, 68 dedicated volunteers joined us at Capitola Beach to make a meaningful impact on our local environment—and we are incredibly grateful for your time and energy.

Cleanup Results

Together, we removed 98.2 pounds of litter from the beach and surrounding areas, including:

  • 93.1 lbs of trash
  • 5.1 lbs of recycling

Key items collected included:

  • 119 cigarette butts
  • 197 small plastic pieces
  • 188 pieces of small foam
  • Dozens of wrappers, straws, lids, balloons, and more

Even when the beach looks clean, there's always more hiding in plain sight. Your efforts help protect our ocean, wildlife, and coastal community.

Event Photography

Special thanks to Jeron Silva, Hazel Kyle, and JM Hernandez for photographing the day. Their work beautifully captured the spirit of the event. We’ll be sharing photos soon on our social media channels:
