RIP Santa Cruz Legend Doc Scott

IMG_1415-2It is with great sadness that we share the news of Doc Scott's passing. A true icon of Santa Cruz surfing culture, Doc Scott was a passionate surfer who rode the waves at Steamer Lane since the 60s. His impact on the surfing community and the environment will never be forgotten.

As the manager of the Western Surfing Association for many years, Doc Scott helped pass the "Environmental Branch" in 1976, which would go on to become the Surfrider Foundation. His dedication to protecting our coasts and improving the sport for future generations has left a lasting legacy. He also developed Doc’s Pro Plugs, which have been a game-changer for surfers everywhere.

Doc Scott's contributions to surfing, the environment, and the Santa Cruz community are immeasurable, and he will be greatly missed.

Rest in peace, Doc Scott. Thank you for everything. 🌊
